Anxiety and stress happen to be all to common now a days with the hustle and bustle of life. I have suffered from anxiety for years and it is not an easy thing to manage. My friends, managing stress can be easy with some simple and healthy life changes.
First of all you need to find out the root of what is causing your stress or anxiety. Is it genetic or is it brought upon by environmental issues such as work, finances, social pressure, or family issues? When you find the root of the cause of your stress or anxiety it will become easier to figure out how to manage it.
Remember, I am not a medical professional, just a midwest girl who has suffered from anxiety most of my life. If your anxiety is disrupting your daily life, it’s time to seek help from a therapist or doctor.
Here are some tips I have learned over the years and most recently to reduce my stress and anxiety. Tip #1 purchase a journal or notebook of some kind to organize your tasks for the day. I tend to get overwhelmed easily with work, bills, and even planning out when to do my blog posts. You can get a cute journal most everywhere, like the one shown above. I purchased these two at Target for $6.99 each. One for organizing your tasks for the day as well as finances. Tip #2 find a gratitude journal or jar. Sometimes its easy for us to forget the positive things in our life when there is negativity or stress we deal with on a daily basis. The purpose of the gratitude journal is to write down a few things each day that you are grateful for. Some things I’m grateful for are: I had a good night sleep or my day at work went well. This will allow you to focus on the positive things in your life instead of dwelling on the negative. Plus it’s always fun to get a cute pen to write with!!
Tip #3 Purchase essential oils to relieve stress and anxiety. I am a big fan of these, lavender oils are known to reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and brain function. You can use lavender oils in a variety of different ways. Use it with a diffuser and put by your bed or family room. You can sprinkle some on your pillow as well for a good nights sleep. I’m a big fan of soaking my worries away in a tub. I love sprinkling some in my bath water for a calming effect. You can also apply lavender oil topically behind your ears for the same benefits. Another great essential oil for anxiety and stress is peppermint. Peppermint oil is known to help with headaches, nausea and opening nasal passages, allergies and more. I use it to help me breath a little better when my anxiety is acting up. Just add a few dabs under your nose to help open nasal passages. You can also add to a diffuser as well or dab on your temples to help relieve a tension headache. I purchased the lavender and peppermint essential oils at Walmart for about $5.33 each. Tip #4 use therapy dough or a stress ball to relieve some of your daily stress. I purchased “Pinch Me” therapy dough at Barnes and Noble for about $14.95. This stuff is amazing, just roll it between your fingers when you feel stress coming on. “Pinch Me” therapy dough is a soft, pliable dough infused with calming aromatherapy. You can even use it while your watching television, reading or in a meeting, anywhere you need to unwind. Now go live a stress and anxiety free life!!!
