Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, so why not revitalize your spring beauty routine and look! I have found some fabulous beauty products that are a definite must have for this spring and most importantly affordable. I’m a big believer in freshening up your look each season.  Whether it’s a new shade in nail polish or lipstick or just splurging on one great statement piece. A neutral shade handbag that will go with anything is a fresh update. I found three great products recently I would love to share with you all.

First, I absolutely love the Bath & Body Works “Super Soft Body Butter” in Moonlight Path. It is so luxurious and feels like butter no pun intended lol. In the morning I apply to my legs and arms and it keeps me moisturized all day long. Oh and the scent is so heavenly! It can be purchased at any Bath & Body Works for $16.50.

Secondly,  I was browsing the beauty section at Target the other day and spotted this new nail product…don’t judge me it’s an addiction! The “Defy and Inspire” 2 makes 3 nail kit. Target has launched their very own nail line with some quirky shade names such as “Bachelor Nation” and “It’s Nothing Personal.” This 2 makes 3 kit comes with two shades and when you add the shades together you get a whole new look. I tried these shades on my toes and was pleasantly surprised that the two shades did achieve a third nail look. This kit can be purchased at any Target for $5.49.

Thirdly, I saved the best for last!  The “Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rose.”  I adore this product, it is a lip moisturizer with a little color.  I tend to wear it under my lipstick or on weekends when I don’t feel like wearing a heavy shade. I received this as a gift from my mom who learned that the princess to be Meghan Markle has this as part of her beauty routine. I believe she likes the shade “Candy!” If it’s good enough for a princess its good enough for me! It can be purchased at Sephora for $24.00.

“First Friday” Finds!

Across America in every town there is that hidden jewel of a shop where you can find unique finds. I have become a fan of a community event in Kansas City called “First Fridays” This three day event takes place the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each month located in the “West Bottoms” of Kansas City, MO.  I patronized two shops where I found some unique finds. One shop was the “The Painted Sofa” a home goods boutique. This three story boutique specializes in old, new, and unique decor and painted furniture.  I found these adorable earrings with a floral print made out of paper, yes I said paper at The Painted Sofa.  They are made by a company called The Sweet Lemon Project. This company is located in Kansas City, Mo. The earrings I purchased were $13.00 a pair.  Make sure to check out their website, they have some fun and unique items! I love local businesses…make sure to shop local whenever you can!

The second item I purchased was from another local company called The Button Buck.  I purchased the “Inspire” ring shown above for $13.00.  Their jewelry is made from upcycled materials and typed fonts from old books and dictionaries.  I absolutely love their trendy jewelry. The fact it’s affordable and can be customized is an added bonus!

My “First Friday” adventure continued with a visit to The Pink Daisy  This shop offers unique gifts including home decor, accessories, furniture and more! I love the fact that they have a men’s grooming line. The men’s line is a company called “Sunflower Body.” They carry beard growth serum, beard balm and aftershave. So ladies if your main man has a beard be sure and check this product out! I also started to notice a trend in earrings now. It looks like the new trend is making products out of recycled material and leather. The earrings above are made out of leather and are so adorable. My twin sister picked up a pair for herself.  Our country is founded on small businesses so remember to support and shop locally in the town you live in! Every town in America has that unique hidden jewel where you can find a special piece. Remember to be “not like ordinary!” as my late father always said!

Pantone’s Color Of The Year Is “Ultra Violet” And Any “Power Purples!”

OPI Gel Color in “Feel The Chemis-Tree”

So who decides what colors are in for Spring and Summer, Fall and Winter each year? Haven’t you always wondered? Well I have too, so I did a little research on my own and this is what I found out. Friends, I introduce to you Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year….drumroll please “Ultra Violet” or any “Power Purples.”  So what does the term Pantone mean? It is a “system for matching colors, used in specifying printing inks.” Since 2000 the Pantone Color Institute declares a certain color as “Color of the Year.” So this is where many designers and cosmetic companies get their inspiration for their product colors. Got it? Good!

The color applied to my nails in the above picture is OPI Gel Color in “Feel The Chemis- Tree.” It’s not an ultra violet purple but more of a darker eggplant color with some shimmer to it. I absolutely love the rich shade.  I had it applied by my nail technician Jade Brown at Stem Hair and Body Salon.  Now, you don’t have to go to a salon to achieve this same look.  I went to my nearest Target store and they have quite a few “Power Purple” shades you can choose from to create this Spring look.  Some of my favorite nail colors I discovered at Target  are below.

Two Beauty Products That Make You Beautiful From The Inside Out!

DSCN0007 (2)

Two things that I look for in a product are the cause they support as well as cruelty free. My favorite products tend to accentuate our natural beauty! Aveda products have been around for a while now, but I was just introduced to this mineral dual foundation by my friend and stylist Jade Brown at Stem Hair and Body Salon.

Jade used this foundation in “Twig” on me and I absolutely loved it! It provides great coverage yet isn’t to heavy.  Foundation can be applied dry or wet with a blender sponge. I love that Aveda products are natural and organic  ranging from skin care to hair care. They are also cruelty free! You can purchase Aveda products at a salon near you that carries them or online at Aveda.

I discovered this next beauty company Thrive Causemetics on social media.  I love what this company stands for and their quality beauty products. Thrive was founded by Karissa Bodnar who lost her dear friend Kristy to cancer at just 24 years old. Her friend Kristy inspired Karissa to start Thrive Causemetics which mission is “Beauty with a Purpose: for every product purchased they donate one to empower a woman thriving through cancer or domestic violence.” I purchased the Brilliant Eye Brightener in Rose Gold Shimmer for $24 on their website at Thrive Causemetics.

The brilliant eye brightener is definitely one of my favorite everyday staples. It’s great if you need a little eye lift after a long night or no sleep. I use it under my brow bone and in the crease of my eye for a little lift.  It definitely whitens my eyes and gives me that well rested look! This company is also cruelty and toxin free! I can’t wait to try their “Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner” next! Stay tuned!
