Leave It Up To Us To Give You Our Must Have Essentials This Fall!!

Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons.  What’s not to like, everything from warm fuzzy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, colorful leaves, the smell of crisp air, and ankle boots!!  Beyond The Makeup Brush wants to share our must have essentials for Fall.

Autumn is all about warm shades whether it is dark berry lipsticks, rustic reds or midnight blue nail polishes. Lovelies,  these are the must haves this Fall.  I love “Maybelline Color Sensational” Lip Color in “Blissful Berry” pictured below.  This is a great berry shade for Fall and can be purchased at Target for $3.79.  It’s a rich dark berry color that goes on smooth with a touch of nectar honey.

Now that you beauty babes out there have your Fall lip shade in check.  What about those nails?  This Fall it’s all about the midnight blues, warm beiges and anything jewel toned inspired.  I love OPI’s “Eurso Euro” pictured below.  It tends to be a dark navy blue color when applied.  I purchased this shade at Target for $5.99!

Now that Fall is officially here you still want to keep that flawless face.  What better way to use a CC cream.  I love Thrive Causemetics “Buildable Blur CC Cream” in “Natural Beige.”  If you’re not familiar with what a CC cream it is the best invention since sliced bread!  A CC cream is lighter than a foundation but has more coverage than a BB cream.  If you have red spots, acne scars or an uneven skin tone, CC cream is a great product to correct your imperfections. I love Thrive Causemetics because it is vegan and cruelty free and the company stands for a great cause!!  I purchased this product on their website Thrive Causemetics for $38.00 and it comes with a free makeup bag!  They also carry a BB cream if you have flawless skin and just need a touch of coverage, lucky gals!

Chocolate and Gold are a gals best friend! Now you can have both in this incredible must have”Chocolate Gold” eye shadow palette from Too Faced for $49.00.  If you are going to invest in one makeup product for Fall, I would definitely check this palette out.  I purchased this palette at Sephora or can be purchased on Too Faced website as well. The “Chocolate Gold” eye shadow palette is actually infused with real gold and cocoa powder, pretty amazing right? The colors are so pigmented and go on velvety smooth. These shadows are very versatile that allows you to go from a natural daytime look to a dramatic look for a night out!

I’m a huge believer in skin care and any product that keeps your skin soft all year long. I discovered the Pacifica products a few months ago at Target, and absolutely fell in love!  I love the “Pacifica Dreamy Youth Rose and Peptides” body lotion.  It’s not too thick and has a clean rose scent. It’s great to put on right after taking a bath or shower and keeps your skin soft all day long.  I purchased at Target  for $14.99 be sure to check out their whole line of beauty products.

One Fall trend that I absolutely adore is long delicate necklaces you can layer.  I love this  “Filigree Oval Long Necklace” by “A New Day” purchased at Target for $14.99.  Whether its gold, sliver or beaded, long delicate necklaces are staple this Fall season.  Gals get those layers on!!

“Orange you glad it’s summer?”

OPI Nail Laquer in “Cajun Shrimp” can be purchased at Target for $8.69

I’m glad summer is finally here, just wish it wasn’t so hot here in the Midwest!  Speaking of hot, the new “hot” color for nails this summer are shades of orange.  Whether it’s a reddish-orange like the OPI Nail Lacquer in “Cajun Shrimp” or Defy and Inspire in “Spoiler Alert” pictured below. This is more of a tangerine color that reminds me of one of those push up popsicles, doesn’t it? Friends, you’re now ready to hit your local farmer’s market or a hot summer night on the town with one of these great shades.

You can always add a little shimmer on top like my nail tech at Stem Hair and Body Salon did with a clear silver shimmer gel polish. Some of my favs are OPI Nail Lacquer in “Happy Anniversary Sparkle” which can be purchased online for $8.69 or Revlon“Stunner” Nail Polish for $4.78 on their website.  So whether you want to add a vibrant sizzling orange pop of paint or a pastel tangerine to your hands and feet, you will be pool ready this summer!

Fresh paint with a pop of pink!!!

What girl doesn’t feel pretty in pink?  The latest trend in nails is a pop of pastel shade this summer. Colors trending this season are bright pinks such as the CND Shellac Polish polish shade in “Rose Bud” shown above applied by my friend Jade Brown at Stem Hair and Body Salon and Essie pale pink shade in “Ballet Slippers”  worn by Princess Meghan Markle on her wedding day!

I recently popped into my local Target store and found some great pink shades at affordable prices that will achieve the same summer mani and pedi look. Here are some of my favorites: Defy and Inspire Polish in “Made” for $7.49 and Essie Pale Pink Polishes “Hi Maintenance” and “Muchi Muchi” for $8.99 each. If darker pink is your preference than you will love Essie Polish in “Cascade Cool” and ” Mod Square” for $8.99 available at Target.  Now go get some fresh paint with a pop of pink!!!

“Gray Matters!”

IMG_1777 (2).jpg

“Gray Matters” indeed especially to me and my family. My sister, mom and myself are headed to Washington D.C. in a few days to advocate for more funding and research for brain tumor survivors with the National Brain Tumor Society and honor my late father AJ Kotich who died of a brain tumor in 2015.  We are “heading to the hill” to meet with representatives from our state of Kansas to tell my Dad’s story and how there is a need for more funding for research and treatment for brain tumor patients.

I wanted to get ready and “gray up” so I had my nail tech and friend Jade Brown at Stem Hair and Body Salon do my nails in two shades of gray. Jade used CND Shellac Color in “Silver Chrome” and CND Shellac Color in “Asphalt.”  She created the gray ribbon with the “Silver Chrome” color.  The colors are pictured below.  So friends remember “Gray Matters!”

Spring Beauty Must Haves

Bath & Body Works Super Soft Body Butter in “Moonlight Path.”
Defy and Inspire 2 makes 3 duo nail kit.” Bachelor Nation” and “It’s Nothing Personal” shades.
Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rose.

Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, so why not revitalize your spring beauty routine and look! I have found some fabulous beauty products that are a definite must have for this spring and most importantly affordable. I’m a big believer in freshening up your look each season.  Whether it’s a new shade in nail polish or lipstick or just splurging on one great statement piece. A neutral shade handbag that will go with anything is a fresh update. I found three great products recently I would love to share with you all.

First, I absolutely love the Bath & Body Works “Super Soft Body Butter” in Moonlight Path. It is so luxurious and feels like butter no pun intended lol. In the morning I apply to my legs and arms and it keeps me moisturized all day long. Oh and the scent is so heavenly! It can be purchased at any Bath & Body Works for $16.50.

Secondly,  I was browsing the beauty section at Target the other day and spotted this new nail product…don’t judge me it’s an addiction! The “Defy and Inspire” 2 makes 3 nail kit. Target has launched their very own nail line with some quirky shade names such as “Bachelor Nation” and “It’s Nothing Personal.” This 2 makes 3 kit comes with two shades and when you add the shades together you get a whole new look. I tried these shades on my toes and was pleasantly surprised that the two shades did achieve a third nail look. This kit can be purchased at any Target for $5.49.

Thirdly, I saved the best for last!  The “Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rose.”  I adore this product, it is a lip moisturizer with a little color.  I tend to wear it under my lipstick or on weekends when I don’t feel like wearing a heavy shade. I received this as a gift from my mom who learned that the princess to be Meghan Markle has this as part of her beauty routine. I believe she likes the shade “Candy!” If it’s good enough for a princess its good enough for me! It can be purchased at Sephora for $24.00.

Pantone’s Color Of The Year Is “Ultra Violet” And Any “Power Purples!”

OPI Gel Color in “Feel The Chemis-Tree”

So who decides what colors are in for Spring and Summer, Fall and Winter each year? Haven’t you always wondered? Well I have too, so I did a little research on my own and this is what I found out. Friends, I introduce to you Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year….drumroll please “Ultra Violet” or any “Power Purples.”  So what does the term Pantone mean? It is a “system for matching colors, used in specifying printing inks.” Since 2000 the Pantone Color Institute declares a certain color as “Color of the Year.” So this is where many designers and cosmetic companies get their inspiration for their product colors. Got it? Good!

The color applied to my nails in the above picture is OPI Gel Color in “Feel The Chemis- Tree.” It’s not an ultra violet purple but more of a darker eggplant color with some shimmer to it. I absolutely love the rich shade.  I had it applied by my nail technician Jade Brown at Stem Hair and Body Salon.  Now, you don’t have to go to a salon to achieve this same look.  I went to my nearest Target store and they have quite a few “Power Purple” shades you can choose from to create this Spring look.  Some of my favorite nail colors I discovered at Target  are below.

Fifty Shades of Green!

Fifty Shades of Green?  This winter it’s all about emerald, army and forest greens to add that pop of color to your nails this season! Above my nail tech Jade Brown from Stem Hair and Body Salon used CND Shellac in Indigo first as the base color than used CND Shellac in an Emerald shade as top coat to achieve this look.  If you are on a tight budget you can create this look yourself. There are many colors online or available at your nearest CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart to achieve these nails. Below I have listed some affordable brands and colors that can warm up your hands this winter season!

HO HO Holiday Nails!

Looking for an affordable added accessory for this years family or company holiday party? No need to stress, one affordable way you can get the glitz and glamour of the holiday spirit is with the latest holiday nail colors and designs.

This winter its all about deep reds, moody blues and forest green nail colors. Whether its gel, dipped powder, or do it yourself its an added accessory we all can afford! I like to treat myself every month with a gel manicure from my girl Jade at Stem Hair and Body. The look below she used OPI “Bogota Blackberry”for the deep red color, OPI “Ornament To Be Together” for the glitter nail and CND “Cream Puff” for the white base with “Bogota Blackberry” and “Ornament To Be Together” to complete the polka dots.

The next look is achieved with a painted nail art technique. Kerry is wearing OPI Gel in “Arctic Snow” for base and glitter gel colors in green, orange, and gold.  OPI gel nail colors in green, yellow, and red were applied to complete the Christmas tree. This look was created  by Susan at Soho Nails and Spa LLC in Gladstone, MO.

Alpine Plum is here!

Winter’s not quite here yet but that doesn’t mean you can’t glam yourself up with the newest winter nail collection from CND! I’m typically drawn to neutral shades but like a subtle glam of color once in awhile. The newest CND Shellac color I am wearing is “Alpine Plum.” I wanted a shade that could go with everything and still have a little pop! This color can be found at most salons or beauty supply stores. I had mine done at Stem Hair and Body by Jade Brown.
