Blue Sand style

I’m always looking for unique accessories such as handbags or necklaces. I discovered this gem of a handbag on one of my friends Facebook pages. This bag is called “The Way*uu Are.”  These are authentic handmade bags that are made by the Wayuu tribes of Columbia. The Wayuu are known as “the people of the sun, sand, and wind.” The women of the Wayuu tribe have been weaving handmade bags for generations. Each bag is different and unique, with different tribal designs. My sister Annie and I are modeling the “Blue Sand” style below. These are available on my friends website at milachic.com in a variety of colors. This style is great for all year long!

PUR Cosmetics my new love!

I discovered this affordable find when I was getting ready for work one morning watching the Today Show and tuned into a segment called Jill Martin’s Steals and Deals. I love the PUR Cosmetics 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation so I had to try this 6 piece kit. This collection comes with 6 different blush colors along with an amazing brush, one Browder wand for your brows, two eyeshadow trios one for day and one for night. I did get this at a discounted price for $39.95 with the Today Show deal which typically only runs 24 hours or until supplies are gone. However, if you go on the PUR Cosmetics website you can find some deals. I believe the eyeshadow trios are priced now at $10.00 each. I love, love this cosmetic company and the fact that they are 100% cruelty free!

Balayage…Technique or Color?

Are you as confused as I am with the different hair color techniques? What’s in and what’s out and what means what? I’m here to help you my friends. So the current trend now is still Balayage, I originally thought this was a type of color or look but my friends it’s not it’s a color technique that hair stylists are using to apply highlights.

I had Balayage done in the picture below. My stylist Amanda Meyer at Stem Hair and Body applied the Balayage technique below on my hair. She used Keune color 6.5 which is Dark Mahogany Blond. Which is the middle color below. This picture does not do it justice. My hair has a shiny rich Mahogany tone to it. The term “Balayage” means  sweep, the stylist sweeps the color through small triangle sections onto a board or foil. It gives your hair natural sun- kissed highlights.  I love this technique because the color grows out with your new hair growth. So it doesn’t look like you’re constantly needing your roots touched up! I usually get my hair touched up every 6 to 8 weeks…gotta love the grays!

Shellac Polish In or Out?

I love getting my nails done on a monthly basis. I have pretty much always done my own nails since I was 13 years old. It gives me a sense of “me time” and relaxation in a world of chaos we unfortunately tend to live in. I started about 3 years ago going to the nail salon to get my nails done professionally and ever since I have been hooked!

This is where I discovered the world of “gel” or “shellac” nails polish. I love the fact that nowadays nail polish is considered an added accessory and you can mix and match polishes and designs, also the fact that it lasts for about 3 weeks in my experience without chipping. Good news Shellac is still in and doesn’t look like its going anywhere anytime soon. I like to try different colors and texture combinations but still remain a little classy yet edgy. My manicurist Jade Brown from Stem Hair and Body in Merriam, Kansas did the nails below for me. She’s terrific!

To do this at home or at your nearest salon you can use CND Shellac brand in “Winter Glow” and to make the glitter polish she mixed “Princess Nail Design Glitter.”
